MASTER PLAN PASSES 16-13 AS IS WITH TRYON AND WEST BAY BECOMING SHARED USE PARKS!

The opponents put up everything they had introducing 5 amendments that would restrict or delay the Master Plan. Each was defeated by vote.
This has been a 2 year battle to see Monroe County change its parks policy to allow for off-road cycling. We as a group owe ourselves a big pat on the back for staying with this issue, working within the process and doing it with respect and courtesy.
We also owe a very large thank you to the Monroe County Parks Department, Director Larry Staub and our local legislative sponsor Dan Quatro. They were the ones that had an open mind and really listened to the facts about off-road cycling.
The Proposed Master Plan for the Ellison Area Parks includes permission to develop shared-use trails in Tryon and Bay Park West. It has been approved by The Monroe’s County Legislature on May 15, 2009.
Once the dust settles we will let you know what the plan and timing for actually officially opening these areas to Mountain biking are.
These Parks are NOT official Open so please do not go into West Bay or other parks until there is an official announcement.
Thank You
