Public Input Meeting Greece Canal Park

Opportunity for mountain biking on the west side of Monroe County.

Since the County is asking for public comments on the “improvements” to this park, anyone who would like to see shared-use trails developed for mountain biking should get involved. This is a similar situation to the Ellison Master Plan, in that we as interested citizens were able to get mountain biking approved for Tryon and Bay Park West as part of the project. I see no reason why Greece Canal Park shouldn’t get the same evaluation. It will require interest and dedication by those who wish to fight for their rights to access to the park for this legitimate activity.

If you are interested, please respond to the County’s request for your input by going to the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 24th or emailing, faxing or mailing your comments. (See attached announcement)

Recommend:

Attend every meeting possible
Be respectful but assertive
Come prepared with data about the appropriateness of mtn biking on sustainable trails-we can provide data and even power point presentations that we have developed
Be aware that there is a great deal of opposition by many individuals and organized groups, who will attend the meetings and “misinform” about the safety, environmental impact, etc., of shared use trails. Your arguments should be made with facts and directed to the decision makers from the government, not to the opposition.
If you want to do this, let me know. Try to get other interested mountain bikers to join you.
