Dryer Road Pump Track

Get Skilled!

Work will soon begin to completely overhaul and improve the Dryer Road Park bike skills area directly adjacent to the parking lot. The project will begin in late April with a completely new pump track design. The new pump track will be constructed on a level 90' X 75' pad that will be located in the same place as the existing pump track. This track will be a completely different design and feature a series of switchback berms, sets of various size rollers, and multiple line options. Drainage and maintenance will also be updated and improved.

The skills area will also feature a multitude of low risk but challenging elements including (but not limited to) jump progressions, log pile progressions, drop off progressions, rock garden progressions, "skinnies" such as boardwalks, log rides, teeter totters, etc. of various configurations.

All of the skills elements will include safety features such as graduated progressions in difficulty and ride arounds for those who choose to skip an element. As always, helmets and additional safety gear will be required.

Work will begin on April 28 and there will be a pump track work day on Saturday May 3 from 9 am to noon. Volunteers to help shape and pack in the track will be greatly appreciated. There will be regular weekend work parties scheduled thereafter to install additional features. Our goal is to have the majority of the skills area finished in time for the 2008 Fat Tire Festival.

The project leaders for the new skills area are Brian Emelson, Victor Gaspar, and Louis Eichel. Several key elements for the skills area are already in progress but there is still room for creativity and the final design is not set. We invite those interested to email us your ideas for consideration in the final skills area design. Please forward all design ideas to our attention with a written description and if possible a schematic of the feature.
