Dirt Betty Rides Return

Background:

There are many women of all ages who want to mountain bike, but find themselves intimidated or otherwise put off and uncomfortable riding with their husband, boyfriend or partner. Because of this we started a group ride for women, and this will mark our third season. It has been a tremendous success in the first two seasons, with as many as 19 riders per session. We will be changing the format this year, away from instructional to a more informal, ride-for-fun experience. We will not be able to offer a learning platform for beginners this year, so we are gearing this to the woman with at least some riding experience.

Goal:

Provide a fun mountain biking experience for women riding with women.

Target Group:

Women (only), who have some mountain bike riding experience and can ride single track trails, which may include drops, logs, mud puddles, rocks, roots, climbs and steep descents.

Must Bring:

A mountain bike in good working condition. A helmet is also mandatory - if you forget yours, forget the ride. Don’t forget your water.

Format:

Informal, one-hour ride as a way to experience new riding locations and trails in a fun, no-pressure, atmosphere.

Locations:

Dryer Road Park, West Bay Park, Ontario County Park. At least one week prior to each ride, the specific time, date and place for each ride will be posted on www.rochestermtb.com and on the GROC website

Schedule:

twice a month
