About GROC Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclists

WHO, WHAT, and WHY of Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclists G.R.O.C.

" GROC’s mission is to be an inclusive community designing, building, riding and maintaining sustainable shared-use trails."

First and foremost GROC (formerly Victor Mt. Bike Club) would like to thank Town of Victor, Victor Parks and Recreation, Victor Hiking Trails and the Town of Victor community. Without their support, assistance, vision and willingness to develop Dryer Road shared-use Trails this off-road cycling community would have no roots. We can't thank the Town of Victor Parks and Recreation enough for being totally core to this outdoor recreation venue. Dryer Road shared-Use Trail System is a fantastic model for shared use trails systems that are inclusive, sustainable, year round and just plain fun. This has helped to demonstrate that projects can be low cost, sustainable, low impact and provide a great healthy benefit to the community.

Next the GROC Community wants to thank you for your interest in cycling and what this cycling community has evolved into. You're a big part of it. GROC is a direct result of the off-road cycling community that has formed around of a group of outdoor enthusiasts working with the Town of Victor Parks and Recreation and Victor Hiking Trails to develop a sustainable trail system open to diverse user groups throughout the year. Victor Mountain Bike Club is the seed from which the Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclist community has formed. Our free community based volunteer run organization has become the largest and most active off-road cycling network in the Genesee Region. The strength of this movement lies in its members and their passion for outdoor activity and off-road cycling in particular. This passion has turned into advocacy for multiple-use shared trail systems in the Genesee/Greater Rochester Region. This in turn has lead to partnerships and multiple-use trails open to human powered activity with organizations such as the Town of Penfield, Town of Victor, Ontario County Parks, The Mendon Foundation and hopefully Monroe County Parks.

To find out more about partnerships, stewardship, trail project initiatives and advocacy please visit the Advocacy section of the website. Thanks for getting involved.

Sincerely,
Genesee Regional Off-Road Cyclists

The International Mountain Bike Association's (IMBA) Trail Solutions guide is "the resource" utilized for the development of these trails.  The trails are designed to give a variety of experiences based on the level of ease or difficulty.  Some trails are flowing, some tight and technical.  Other trails offer thrilling descents followed by big grinds uphill, some are like a walk in the park.  The cool thing is you have a variety to choose from and explore.  Take a look at the "The Setup of Dryer Rd. Park Trails " on the website for the overview, trail rating, suggested rides, and a few rules/conventions.  The trails were designed and built by mountain bikers who also hike, ski, and run.  The bottom line is we are outdoor enthusiasts who participate in many ways and bring those experiences to the terrain of Dryer Road Park. Please remember to stay on the trail, ride the line and keep singletrack single.
